Andrew Leverich

Technical Level Designer

Geuseunsae is a solo Unreal Engine project inspired by folklore from Jeju Island, South Korea. It is an action-based maze survival experience set in an abandoned 1950s Korean village. My primary focus was level design, using environmental storytelling and spatial challenge to immerse players and guide tension-driven exploration.

High Fidelity

The high-fidelity stage focused on bug fixing and final polish, ensuring all AI systems functioned correctly and gameplay issues were resolved. I also added bridges to introduce verticality and created clear landmarks to improve player navigation and readability within the maze.

Block Outs

This phase focused on implementing a complex maze layout and designing gate placements that could either support or hinder player progression. As this was a solo project, I also created the UI and AI systems. The gate designs were inspired by traditional Korean architecture, and I developed them to be both mechanically complex and visually authentic.

Supporting Material

During development, I evaluated features based on development cost versus player impact, prioritizing plausible additions that added meaningful value while using maze mechanics to support challenging, rewarding gameplay.
